UK households throw away 7 million tones of food and drink each year - that's 5 wheelie bins per household per year. The majority of this could have been eaten, if it had been managed better. Buying and throwing away food costs the UK public £12.5 billion a year, That's £700 for the average family.
Evidence shows that half the food we throw away still remains whole or unopened. This project aims to educate people in the efficient use of food and drink. By teaching people new recipes and providing tips on how to better use food, as well as offering opportunities to experience new kinds of food.
